3 Approaches for Time-Remapping in Adobe Premiere Pro

first_imgRate Stretch Tool1. Select the Rate Stretch Button or click the ‘R’ button2. Click and drag the in-point/out-point of your clipThe speed and duration will match any adjustments you make to the clip. It’s that simple. What method is your favorite for adjusting speed/duration in Premiere? Share in the comments below. Here are a few easy ways to adjust speed/duration in Premiere Pro.Whether you’re wanting to artistically manipulate time, or simply want to change the speed of a clip, the following 3 methods are an easy way to manipulate clip speed in Adobe Premiere Pro. All 3 methods take only seconds, but each one has it’s own benefits and disadvantages.First let’s tackle some of the semantics of time remapping:What is Speed?Speed is the rate at which a clip plays back usually displayed in percentages. For example, a clip that plays back at 200% is twice as fast as an unaffected clip. What is Duration?Duration is a measure of time from the in-point to the out-point. Whereas speed deals with playback, duration only deals with how much time a specific clip takes up in the timeline. Just because you adjust a clip’s duration does not necessarily mean you are adjusting the clip’s speed and vice-versa.The Speed/Duration Command1. Right-click your clip in the timeline & navigate to Speed/Duration.2. Select your desired command.3. Click okThe Speed/Duration Command consists of a few very easy to understand parameters and checkboxes. When Speed/Duration is linked, a speed percentage of less than 100% will slowdown playback and increase duration. Alternatively a speed percentage of more than 100% will speed-up playback and shorten the duration. You can link/unlink speed and duration by clicking the chain icon in the viewer. You can reverse clip playback by selecting reverse speed. Instead of having your audio sound like The Chipmunks (or the Tree Ents from Lord of the Rings!)  you can select ‘Maintain Audio Pitch’. Premiere will try to make your audio sound more natural when played back at a different speed. By selecting ‘Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips’ your adjacent clips will be moved in the timeline to match your changes.center_img Use Time Remapping1. Right-click on your clip and select ‘Show Clip Keyframes>Time Remapping>Speed’2. Increase your speedSimply drag the ‘Rubber Band’ on your clip up and down to increase/decrease the clip duration. You can Command+Click on a Mac or Control+Click on Windows to set keyframes. There are actually a lot of really cool ways to manipulate clip speed using this feature. The video tutorial below outlines a few helpful ways to use the Time Remapping Tool.3. Time-remapping can be keyframed in the Effects Panellast_img read more

The Evolution of Sales Approaches Won’t End with Insight

first_img Essential Reading! Get my 2nd book: The Lost Art of Closing “In The Lost Art of Closing, Anthony proves that the final commitment can actually be one of the easiest parts of the sales process—if you’ve set it up properly with other commitments that have to happen long before the close. The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall.” Buy Now After watching this video about Level 4 Value Creation™ posted on LinkedIn, Ben asks whether the ideas popularized by The Challenger Sale and approaches that lead with insight have been commoditized. The short answer here is that we are not even close to having commoditized value-creating approaches to selling to—and serving—our clients. The Evolution of SolutionsMack Hanan wrote the book Consultative Selling in 1970. The central idea in that book was that being consultative meant helping your client improve their profitability. Very few salespeople or sales organizations executed the PIP (profit improvement plans) he recommended in his book. Forty-eight years later, few are even aware of his excellent work, though the book was on it’s eight edition last I checked. You may not even be aware that Michael Bosworth developed and wrote the first book on Solutions Selling in 1994. That makes the ideas in that book decades old, and the version by Keith Eades, New Solutions Selling followed in 2003, fifteen years prior to this post. Solutions Selling was–and is–very widely and successfully implemented, so much so, that I believe Level 3 Value, the ability to solve a client’s dissatisfaction has been commoditized. That said, there are many salespeople and sales organizations that never moved past pitching themselves and their products, some being more successful than others, context being the difference in results. The long evolutionary arc of sales approaches bends towards greater levels of value creation (and how could it be otherwise).A Small Step for Salespeople and Their ClientsIn all of human history, we have advanced steadily forward, always improving things, occasionally stumbling in the most horrific of ways imaginable. We have never, however, gone from Hunter-Gatherer, to Agrarian, to the Industrial Age, to the Information Age, and then back to Industrial Age. These advances are not universal, with some reaching certain paths before others. In sales, we couldn’t help but stumble into leading with insights and ideas as the natural progression from solutions. It was unavoidable that the people who sat across from clients and developed solutions with them would eventually develop the business acumen and situational knowledge necessary to be able to proactively compel their dream clients to change before they suffered from their lack of awareness and/or action. This should come as no surprise, as a “trusted advisor” has always coupled the two ideas that make up the term itself. The answer is no, leading with insights and helping the client decide to change has not yet been commoditized. It will be some time before it is replaced by something even more powerful. But over time, you can count on the bar being raised ever higher, and with it, more being required of salespeople who want to be consultative in their approach.Stay tuned for Level 5.last_img read more

Mamata bats for Darjeeling peace

first_imgDuring an all-party meeting in Darjeeling on Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said an industry meet would be held in March.Ms. Banerjee said Darjeeling has the potential for industry in software, tourism and horticulture and she would ask industrialists to attend the meet. “Let us forget what happened [in the past]. The political parties and their ideology will remain but let us come together for the development of the hills,” Ms. Banerjee said. The Chief Minister’s visit to Darjeeling hills, which comes after eight months and the first since the hills braved a 104-day shutdown, assumes a lot of political significance. On her first day, Ms. Banerjee inaugurated a road in the name of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) founder Subhas Ghising. Ghising, who spearheaded the movement for a separate State of Gorkhaland for decades, was sent into political oblivion by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha president Bimal Gurung in 2007.last_img read more

NGT directs Haryana Chief Secy. to review policy, submit report

first_imgThe National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday directed Haryana Chief Secretary to review the inspection policy of industries in the State. Further, he was directed to submit a report on the same within one month.A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel also noted that the current policy is not in consonance with the mandate of the principles of the precautionary and sustainable development of environment laws. According to the principles, the highly polluting industries, as defined by the Central Pollution Control Board, are to be inspected once in three years.Directing the State pollution control board to revise the policy in consultation with the CPCB, the Bench said, “Constitution of the State pollution control board without effective functioning amounts to failure of law enacted for protection of the environment.”Dissatisfaction Further, the green panel expressed dissatisfaction over a report submitted by a committee comprising of representatives from the CPCB, Haryana Pollution Control Board, Central Ground Water Authority and the district administration on pollution caused by industries in Sonipat and Panipat.“The report can hardly be held to be satisfactory. The gaps in the report be revisited under the supervision of the Member Secretary, CPCB, by a team of two senior officers nominated by him. The committee may also assess the illegal withdrawal of water,” the Bench said. The directions came when the green panel was hearing a plea by Delhi resident that sought directions to close industrial units which are operating without requisite consent under relevant rules.“It is submitted that even though action has been initiated by CPCB on the ground level there is no compliance and even out of the units which have been directed to be closed, some are still working in the same manner,” the plea had said.last_img read more

Indian IT Professionals Face Tough Time With Visa Restrictions

first_imgThe visa woes of Indian IT professionals no longer limited to the United States, since other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia are also following in the footsteps of America. These countries too have extended visa curbs on Indian immigrants, along with obscuring the rules that are open to interpretation by local authorities. The rise in the nationalist sentiment among countries all over the world is being considered the main reason behind this development, and as a result, many countries are trying to restrict the entry of foreign workforce. These concerns shared by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) have now prompted the government to recognize the hurdles, most of which are against the assurances given by these countries to India at the World Trade Organization and their trade agreements with India, the Times of India reported. The study shows that there is no match between the commitments given by the countries and the visa issued. In the midst of these developments, India is trying to push for a permanent trade agreement for facilitation in services. The country is also conducting talks to implement liberal rules in Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), and other countries like Australia, New Zealand and China, which fall under the regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).Despite continuous efforts from the Indian government, these countries are not willing to ease the visa rules. US President Donald Trump’s “Buy American, Hire American” sentiment resulted in, for the first time in many years, a fall in the number of applicants for H-1B visa. Simultaneously, the number of Indians in the United States searching for jobs back home increased by 10 times between December 2016 and March 2017, according to research firm Deloitte.Hassles in the United KingdomAfter the United States, Indian IT professionals consider the United Kingdom as a big hub. In January this year, the country rejected demands for the re-introduction of the post-study work visa, which was very popular among overseas students, especially from India. The European Union gave an absurd reason for abolishing the post-study work visa, saying, “The brightest and best of students should not come here and do menial jobs.”Earlier, in 2015, the UK government raised the threshold maintenance funds a student should have in their bank account by 24 per cent.New Zealand Tightens Visa RulesIn April, the New Zealand government also announced plans to block foreign workers in the country, in a bid to control the number of migrations to the country, amid growing concern of overcrowding in Auckland.“The government has a Kiwis-first approach to immigration. It’s important that our immigration settings are attracting the right people, with the right skills, to help fill genuine skill shortages and contribute to our growing economy,” Michael Woodhouse, the New Zealand Immigration Minister, had said to Guardian.“That is why we are making a number of changes to our permanent and temporary immigration settings aimed at managing the number and improving the quality, of migrants coming to New Zealand,” he added.Australia’s Visa Policy Gets TighterAustralia is also imposing strict rules on Indian techies. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the country’s stand over hiring foreign workforce through a video posted on his official Facebook page. In April Turnbull said that jobs must first go to Australians before businesses consider hiring foreign workers. He also said that the government is scrapping the 457 Visa Program, which allows skilled migrants to work in Australia. Ind vs WI: Rains ruined Dhoni’s plans

first_imgIndia captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni didn’t hide his disappointed stating that his plan was “ruined due to the rain” that stopped play for around 32 minutes during the final session of the second Test against West Indies that ended in a draw.”I am disappointed to some extent. The last session was evenly poised. My plan was ruined because of the rain, we got couple of wickets that were needed but bad light spoiled the party,” a dejected Dhoni stated at the post-match presentation ceremony.About his decision to offer a sporting declaration, Dhoni said that he was confident that 280 was a defendable total.”I thought 280 was enough in this venue since the outfield is slow which means you can add some 30 runs to the target. It was also not easy to play shots on this track.”The Indian captain did admit that it was a difficult track to bat on first up.”I think there was fair bit of moisture on the track on the first day. If we had bowled, we might have had bowled slightly fuller. Our bowlers have been really good in this series. Even though some of them have not taken wickets, they have put pressure on the batsmen,” he said. The skipper was full of praise for Ishant Sharma. “He has bowled really well and in absence of Zaheer Khan has proved to be our main strike bowler.”Ishant who had a match-haul of 10 for 108 was naturally elated after being adjudged man-of-the-match for his spectacular bowling.advertisement”I can’t forget this match as I have never bowled so well in a Test match. The wicket had uneven bounce but once you stuck to the right areas it yielded results,” Ishant said. He also thanked Zaheer Khan for mentoring him. “I am thankful to Zak as his advice has helped me bowl well.”Under pressure West Indian captain Darren Sammy was however happy that they had managed a draw in the Test match. “I will take this result. As long as we didn’t lose today, I was quite happy. We had a plan even down to the last 15 overs were on course but we lost too many wickets,” Sammy said.He has always regretted the batting effort and this time also it was no different.”It was a repetition of the first Test when we got them cheaply but couldn’t surpass their score although Bravo and Baugh played well in the second innings,” the Caribbean skipper said. The endeavour now will be to win the final Test and square the series. “We have to go all out to win the Test. I can’t fault the effort of our bowlers. Fidel got eight wickets and Rampaul aslo bowled well,” he stated.- With inputs from PTIlast_img read more
